Biography

Dr. Bobur Turaev is a pediatric cardiac surgeon at the Multidisciplinary Children's Hospital of Tashkent State Medical University, where he has practiced since 2019 and performed more than 1,200 congenital and acquired heart surgeries in neonates, infants, and children. He specializes in complex reconstructive procedures, including aortic arch repair, pulmonary valve reconstruction, and Fontan circulation.

His training spans three continents: a bachelor's degree and residency in pediatric surgery in Tashkent, an MSc in Surgical and Interventional Science (Distinction) from University College London, and a specialization in pediatric cardiac surgery completed in 2022. He has since undertaken clinical observerships at leading congenital heart centers abroad, including Great Ormond Street Hospital and Evelina London in the UK, the German Heart Center Munich, Okayama University Hospital in Japan, the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, and Shanghai Children's Medical Center.

Dr. Turaev has pioneered new surgical techniques in Uzbekistan, including the creation of a pulmonary neovalve from the right atrial appendage and the country's first cone repair for Ebstein's anomaly. He is the author of more than 30 published abstracts and papers, with a research focus on aortic coarctation and pulmonary artery reconstruction.

Professional Philosophy

Dr. Turaev's approach is built on bringing internationally validated surgical standards to every case, while keeping families closely informed and involved at each stage of their child's treatment. He views continuous exposure to leading centers abroad — and bringing that knowledge home — as essential to advancing congenital heart care in Uzbekistan.
